US Open Inline Chicago 2010

Racing

The intent of this event is to provide a very basic competition that anyone can enter. It does not require any special skill or skates and is skated in a straight line to make it easier for all skaters.

These events are run down the length of the rink (long axis) with no turns at the end as part of the event. These is designed to encourage beginners to race and have fun without needing to skate in a bunch. Enough space will be allowed at the end for a skater to either stop in a straight line or go around the curve to slow down.

The scoring will be done in a bracket structure, which is used in team sports where there are two teams competing in a playoff.

There will be awards for each level.

Overall Champion

The winners of each level will compete against each other starting with adjacent levels. The final round will determine the overall champion.

In the case of single skaters there will be an award for the fastest male and the fastest female.

In the case of the relay there will only be a single award.

50 Meter Straight Line Skill Levels

Two skaters will be lined up at the starting point. The skaters will  compete against each other twice. There will be two lanes, one for each skater separated by enough cones to make the lanes clear. The skater must skate in their own lane and not crossover, other that skater may be disqualified at the discretion of the referee.

Skaters will be divided in age groups as much as possible. Once winners have been determined for each age group. Then age groups will compete against each other with the adjacent age groups competing first.

If a skater wins twice then that skater is the winner of the event and moves up to the next round. If  each skater wins one round then there is a third run-off and the winner of that race is the winner of the event.

There will be an overall male and overall female champion.

50 Meter Straight Line Relay

The skaters will form a team and make contact with their team member at the each end of the rink. Males and females can be on the same team. The tagged member will then race across the rink to contact another team member or end the race. There will be at least two rounds up and down the rink depending on the number of skaters per team. Failure to make contact means a skater will have to backup and make contact with the previously skating team member standing behind the end line.

Teams will be divided by age groups with the age determined by the oldest skater.  There will be awards for each level. There will only be one overall champion award.
